Beware Of These "Trends" Concerning Item Upgrading
World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the item to which it is used (for instancefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of the item will be revealed during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even if they are unsure how much it will be improved after the reset.
The process of upgrading an item can be expensive and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as you can to level 15.
In the final game you'll find that the most effective way to upgrade your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without any restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values can enhance a stat by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, so it is recommended to position your Glyphs near key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. Druids for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by adding upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item has an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced by a new item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will become the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This can be a disadvantage, as it can cause the item to become more expensive if you do not require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a different set of bonus bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to personalize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player is repeatedly in or leaves the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item can be very valuable in PvP, as a perfectly rolled version of it can be worth between 20 and 50x its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The item upgrader lets players increase the level of their equipment (armor weapons, armor trinkets, and weapons) beyond ilvl385 by handing over the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its original state which means that the player has to pay for more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, and all other effects that are associated with that effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in the chance of crit, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero grade items have a lower cost per upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For instance they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. The player will need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
