The 3 Greatest Moments In Item Upgrades History
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and essential way to boost the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they're attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of games and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items that have upgrade components within them by using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.
The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will boost its damage absorption. However, it's important note that this will also increase its weight, causing it to weigh more than it was before.
There are a variety of armor upgrade available in the game. Each has a different effect. For example, some upgrades give the armor a certain number of health points while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade that an item will receive, as shown below.
Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require a fee to use, which are identified by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades are updated daily or never expire, depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the environment and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive but is readily available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant improvements in stats and are well worth the cost.
The player should be aware that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level can increase its defense values. However, it can also decrease the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor above +9. The added defense usually isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. For instance, an upgrade may improve the damage that is caused by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Some weapons have special upgrades to improve their inherent characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
Most upgrades for weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests, taking out a certain number of bosses or monsters, or by contacting the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a certain number of Bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars are required to complete it. The cost of upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until your weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this but the process is based on RNG and low on agency. item upgrade is better to purchase gear with minimal upgrade levels, but high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a greater chance of giving you the highest tier blessings and perks.
The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they most often use to allow them to progress faster. In addition players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to increase their power as well. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F so that he can unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the tier of the gem, the better its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a jewel can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts can vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's inserted into weapons, jewelry, or other gear.
The Jeweler can create the highest levels of gems with the exception of rare and legendary ones that you must be at a certain level to get. Jewels can be replaced with another jewel without destroying the original. You are able to replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.
The use of more jewels in a movement will make it feel smoother, and is often performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also get glyphs for their shields and weapons from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be exchanged, however they are not guaranteed to appear as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs are also removed, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets

Trinkets are pieces of equipment that provide many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player can unlock is the cloak, which grants a small, but valuable boost to speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player obtains weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that accepts either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be used in any type of equipment, while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets can also grant buffs and skills that are active even when the character is not in combat. This lets the hero be more effective when not active, and can also help to compensate for the absence of a strong team or the absence of any slots in the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal statistics.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing soon, followed by items with desirable stats, but less important than the iLevel of the item being upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple statistics on an item. It is best to upgrade just one crucial stat than two less important ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red one prior to the beginning of the game. Top and mid players on the other hand will pick a green or a pink ward, depending on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.
In addition to the items mentioned above, players will also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones in the story, for instance the main quest of a chapter or destroying a boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
